Chimney and liner work is essential so working on a roof is a requirement.

The primary focus of our work is installation, repair and maintenance of nearly all types of air conditioning and HVAC electrical systems.

 

We’re looking for an enthusiastic person to join our small, but talented, team of engineers. 

To begin with, the applicant’s primary role would be as an assistant on HVAC and electrical installations.

From our personal experience, that’s a great way to feel out whether the type of work, and the company in general, is a good fit.

No specific qualifications are required, however a general (or prospective!) interest in of HVAC or electrical engineering would be useful.

Gas Fire Fitter - Ambience Heating

Job Description

Ambience: Fires & Stoves are looking for a Multi-trades person to join our team of Fireplace installers, based from their showroom in Oxford. Knowledge of general building work is essential and you will have a proven working knowledge in relevant trades such as general building work, carpentry and / or plumbing (a Gas Safe or Hetas Registration would be advantageous but not essential)

The responsibilities of the role are as follows but not limited to;

 

  • Keeping the work vehicles well organized and clean and stocked with the relevant building materials that are commonly used.
  • Inspecting and transporting customer products safely to site in work vehicles without causing damage to them.
  • Setting out work spaces using dust sheets, clearing work paths and informing customers of relevant safety notices.
  • Removing and disposing of existing fireplaces using appropriate personal protective equipment. Suitable tools and equipment will be provided for these works.
  • Carrying out remedial work around a fireplace to the building fabric in preparation for a new fireplace to be installed. For example, cutting floors/carpets/skirting boards, remedial plastering/bonding, bricklaying, tiling etc.
  • Installing hearths and fire surrounds, to be flat and level and suitable for their task.
  • Working safely at heights using ladders, MEWPS and scaffolding to install flexible liners, twin wall flue systems, chimney pots and bird guard terminals.
  • Communication with the manager and showroom staff to facilitate good customer service.
  • Using previous work experience and initiative to provide work place solutions.
  • An eye for detail is required as the fireplaces are focal points in rooms and therefore receive close scrutiny.

 

Understanding of how gas and solid fuel fires work in relation to conventional draught. Following manufacturers instruction and building regulations. Working towards achieving certification in the relevant work categories.

Hours of work will be 9am – 5pm , Monday to Friday.

Salary dependent on experience.

Mobile Mechanical Engineer/Fitter position available in a successful and well-established mechanical services company. 

To apply for the role engineer’s need to have experience in fitting/installing (steel work from ½” to 12”) (copper, pipe work from 15mm to 150mm, and other services covering all types of jointing methods etc. 

The role will involve working from drawings installing all types of mechanical works both new and existing systems such as steam, heating, water, compressed air etc. 

You’ll be travelling to sites within a 0 to 60-mile radius from the company’s office in Oxford, no stay away required.   

You’ll work closely with the site supervisor and project engineer to ensure the contract is running smoothly from start to completion.  Projects vary in length from a couple of days to 1 year.

They have built a solid reputation in the industry working for a range of commercial and industrial clients

 The role:

*Working from drawings installing all types of mechanical equipment

*40 hours a week

The person required:

*Experience installing steel/iron/copper metal equipment.

*Willing to travel to sites within a 60-mile radius of Oxford.

*Relevant qualification and/or experience.

* Current driving licence

* Current CSCS

*Certificates: Working at heights, Manual handling.
