Fusion Welding - EFJLP1
Assessment Information
Candidates with limited or no experience of manual welding processes wishing to learn skills; maintenance staff required to install plastic fabrications; welding engineers unfamiliar with
these processes; engineering apprentices.
Course Content
Introduction to common thermoplastics (MDPE, PVC, PP, PE, PVDF) including:
- Key processing techniques
- Joint preparation
- Defects and how to avoid them
- Process control
- Inspection and testing
- Health and safety
- Practical electro-fusion welding in polypropylene or polyethylene pipework.
- to understand practical welding - electrofusion (up to 65mm OD)
- to identify plastics materials to implement procedure control and safe operation
- to understand weld properties
- to identify faults and defects and how to avoid them

You will need to bring with you
- Candidate name and address
- Candidate National Insurance number
- 2 passport sized photographs
- Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of gas work
experience
- A declaration of the category for the individual making the
application
- First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable
form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
