Fusion Welding - EFJLP1

 

Assessment Information

Candidates with limited or no experience of manual welding processes wishing to learn skills; maintenance staff required to install plastic fabrications; welding engineers unfamiliar with these processes; engineering apprentices.

 

Course Content

Introduction to common thermoplastics (MDPE, PVC, PP, PE, PVDF) including:

  • Key processing techniques
  • Joint preparation
  • Defects and how to avoid them
  • Process control
  • Inspection and testing
  • Health and safety
  • Practical electro-fusion welding in polypropylene or polyethylene pipework.
  • to understand practical welding - electrofusion (up to 65mm OD)
  • to identify plastics materials to implement procedure control and safe operation
  • to understand weld properties
  • to identify faults and defects and how to avoid them

Course Duration

  • 1/2 a day
  • You will need to bring with you

  • Candidate name and address
  • Candidate National Insurance number
  • 2 passport sized photographs
  • Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of gas work experience
  • A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
  • First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable  form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
