Assessment Information

This course is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in core commercial catering gas work.






Course Content

This course includes 12 Core Competences:

  1. Gas Safety Legislation
  2. Gas Emergency Actions and Procedures
  3. Characteristics of Combustion
  4. Ventilation
  5. Installation of Pipework and Fittings
  6. Soundness Testing between Appliance Isolation Valve & Appliance Operating Taps for Pipework Volume up to 0.15m3
  7. Checking and/or Setting Meter Regulators
  8. Identification of Unsafe Situations and the Use of Emergency Isolation  Controls and Valves
  9. Checking and Setting Appliance Burner Pressures
  10. The Operation and Checking of Appliance Gas Safety Devices and Controls
  11. Re-establish Existing Gas Supply and Relight Appliances



  • Category 1 Candidates who wish to renew their CCCN1 qualification.
  • Category 1 Candidates who have allowed their qualification to lapse for more than 12 months
  • Category 2 Candidates may also access this course.

  • CCCN1 inc. COMCAT 1,2 & 3 training and assessment - 4 days

  • CCCN1 inc. COMCAT 1,2 & 3 assessment only - 3 days

  • CCCN1 training and assessment - 3 days

  • CCCN1 assessment only - 2 days

  • You will need to bring with you

  • Candidate name and address
  • Candidate National Insurance number
  • 2 passport sized photographs
  • Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of gas work experience
  • A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
  • First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable  form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
