OFTEC

Assessment Information 

The OFTEC assessment scheme covers a range of installation and maintenance activities within the domestic and commercial oil industry. The following assessments are available:

  • OFT 10-101 Domestic/light commercial commissioning and servicing of pressure jet appliances
  • OFT 10-105E Domestic oil firing system installation and energy conservation measures in buildings
  • OFT 10-600 Domestic and non-domestic oil storage and supply installation

 

Pre-requisites

 

For the initial OFTEC assessments, candidates must satisfy the entry requirements defined by the OFTEC Assessment Scheme Rules (Category 1, 2 and 3).

Candidates wishing to take re-assessment must have held the assessment element previously – if this element has expired within 12 months of the assessment date, it will be necessary to take the initial assessment.

 

Further Information

 

Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations.

 

Expiry Information

 

OFTEC certificates are normally valid for 5 years.

Prior to the expiry date, candidates can elect to retake their qualification up to 6 months early without losing out (MOT Style). Previous certificates must be presented as evidence of holding the original qualification.

Training Materials

 

 

Training is NOT always a pre-requisite for assessment although most candidates do elect to undertake training prior to the assessment.

Our  Centres will provide the opportunity for candidates to undertake training prior to the assessment

It is recommended that you have upto dates OFTEC books 1, 2, 3, and 4, 

we can supply these books is required 

 

 

Course Duration

3 Days, with training and assessment for the combined course  OFt10-101, OFT10-105E and OFT10-600A  

 

Course content:

  • OFT10-101 - Servicing and commissioning pressure jet
    appliances upto 70kW
  • OFT10-105E - Appliance and central heating systems installation
  • OFT10-600A - Oil storage tanks and supply

  • You will need to bring with you

  • Candidate name and address
  • Candidate National Insurance number
  • 2 passport sized photographs
  • Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of gas work experience
  • A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
  • First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable  form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
