Legionnaires                                            RISK ASSESSMENT &                     DISINFECTION OF WATER SYSTEMS

Assessment Information

With health and safety law requiring anyone in charge of buildings to assess the risks posed by Legionnaires’ disease and the Legionella bacteria, these are some of our most popular courses. They aim to show how to design and maintain water systems to minimise the risks from Legionella.

Pre-requisites

These courses are aimed at plumbers and maintenance engineers responsible for the physical maintenance of water systems.

Further Information

Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations.

Successful completion of the individual courses will allow the candidate to undertake the risk assessment of domestic properties to reduce the risk of Legionella

Expiry Information

Certificates are normally valid for 5 years.

Useful Information

These courses are designed to meet the training requirements of the revised ‘Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and guidance: Legionnaires disease’.

Training Materials

Risk Assessment of Water Systems

This is effectively an introduction to the properties of water and the design of water systems, more specifically the inherent risks that can lead to the development of the Legionella bacteria. The manual includes a log book to record details and performance of a cold and hot water system as part of a risk assessment exercise, with a clean log book also provided on a CD Rom.

Disinfection of Water Systems

This manual shows how to physically disinfect hot and cold water systems, explaining the properties of water and focussing on preventing the development of Legionella pneumophila bacteria, the cause of Legionnaires’ disease. As well as explaining how a water system should be disinfected correctly, it lists the chemicals used in the process and the course includes a practical demonstration.
