Inspection and Testing

Inspection and Testing (5-Day Combination Course + 1/2 Day Assessment)

This is an EAL course that combines Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection qualifications. These courses are the same level as City & Guilds. This qualification is equally acceptable to JIB for the purposes of grading and by NICEIC etc.

To dispel any doubt please check Section 4 of the JIB handbook which clearly states for Approved Electrician etc: “the qualifications needed to cover the full scope of Inspection and Testing are City & Guilds 2394 or the EAL Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations and the City & Guilds 2395 or the EAL Level 3 Award in the Periodic, Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations”.

So to be clear, these courses are the equivalent of C&G 2394 and 2395.

Why EAL? Well we like EAL because they are very closely linked with industry and find they are more practically focused. (If you are doing a JTL apprenticeship nowadays chances are you will be taking EAL exams and undertaking EAL NVQs).

We also like the fact that we can book EAL exams at any time we like and are not stuck with just a couple of times a year.

The combined course will give the candidate the full set of qualifications in Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection.

Completion of the course will enable the candidate to demonstrate that they are conversant with the methods laid out by the IET (Institute of Electrical Technology) BS 7671:2008 (Amd 3:2015) and Guidance Note 3 along with supporting legislation and codes of practice.

Variations?

We can deliver this course as two separate qualifications if you like, the only proviso is you must pass the Initial Verification qualification before you undertake the Periodic Inspection qualification.

We can also deliver this course in a variety of formats (according to the demand). For example, we can deliver this in a straight 5 days or one day a week over 5 weeks + 2 Days Assessment. Please don’t be afraid to ask.
